Biyografi

Oğuz Otyakmaz was born in Istanbul and completed his education in engineering. He subsequently lived and worked in various parts of the world for educational and professional purposes. Throughout this journey, he developed a deep interest in philosophy, questioning the nature of existence and the search for meaning. Bringing together abstract art and philosophical inquiry, Otyakmaz approaches his artistic practice as an ongoing process of questioning, much as he does life itself. His work explores human consciousness, existence, and the perception of reality. His artistic practice emerges from a balance between analytical thinking and intuitive expression. Through layered surfaces, energetic brushstrokes, and intense color relationships, he presents visual interpretations of mental processes. His works are visual expressions of an ongoing intellectual investigation into reality, value, and human consciousness. The human mind constructs concepts to make sense of the world. Over time, however, these concepts begin to collapse. In his paintings, Otyakmaz explores the moments of this collapse: when an idea fractures, a belief is shaken, or an individual is confronted with the self. Art is not meant to provide answers. Its purpose is to allow questions to become visible. Rather than depicting the appearance of something, his paintings seek to capture the energy of a feeling—the intensity of an emotion as it unfolds, transforms, and reveals what lies beneath the surface.
