Emotional X-Ray: Reading the Body Within
What if your emotions had an X-ray report?
Have you ever tried to read your own body language? The tension in your jaw, the position of your shoulders, the way you hold your breath…
What if these small signals could be read like an X-ray result?
Emotional X-Ray is a self-portrait photography series exploring the relationship between emotions, body language, and self-awareness. Through nine visual findings, the project examines what the body may reveal about what we carry inside, from suppressed emotions and inner tension to acceptance, integration, and transformation.
The series also draws on Carl Jung’s concept of the shadow: the parts of ourselves we repress, deny, or struggle to acknowledge. Through gestures, bodily tension, and symbolic imagery, the photographs invite viewers to confront these less visible aspects of the self and consider how greater awareness might begin.
Approaching health from a psychological and emotional perspective, the project reflects on the importance of recognising our inner experiences rather than overlooking them. It does not offer a medical diagnosis or claim that physical gestures have fixed psychological meanings. Instead, it invites personal interpretation, curiosity, and reflection.
What would your emotional X-ray reveal?
